It is technology to the rescue again, this time, a new breakthrough has been achieved for the fossil fuel crisis.
We know of green homes, clean energy, etc. but how about a car powered by compressed air? The company called Magnetic Air Cars Inc says it is working on a prototype car that will not use any gas, fuel, or external recharging device, only air to propel the vehicle. This so called Magnetic Air Car could be ready by 2010 “or sooner.”

The Magnetic Air Car uses three on-board substations to harness compressed air. The resulting airflow is channeled, modulated, and converted to torque that propels the car. There is a “Silicon Energy Storage Battery” which has 30% more mass power than normal lead acid battery.
The process of chemosynthesis delivers a more environmentally friendly, high-capacity, quick-charging (1 hour), 10-year-life battery.
Indian car company Tata Motors is working on its MDI air-powered car, and the team explained that there are differences between both technologies. While the MDI uses pistons, the Magnetic Air Car will be using a form of “magnetic technology.”
The execs also told us that they are looking to raise a bridge round of financing over the next few months before more substantial funding comes in.

An earthquake rattled San Francisco on Friday night measuring a 4.0 on the richter scale.
According to the Associated Press, the quake’s epicenter was near Alamo, California about 28 miles east of San Francisco. The earthquake occurred about 2.5 miles from the Calaveras fault, where a cluster of quakes occurred in April 1990 over a three-week period.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries in either Alamo or the surrounding communities.
Speaking about earthquakes in San Francisco, the disastrous scenes in 1906 came to mind. The rupture occurred along the San Andreas Fault for a total length of 296 miles. Tremors were felt from Oregon to Los Angeles, and inland as far as central Nevada.
The earthquake and resulting fires are remembered as one of the worst natural disasters in the history of the United States. The death toll from the earthquake and resulting fire, estimated to be above 3,000, represents the greatest loss of life from a natural disaster in California’s history.
And in more recent times, we have the San Francisco Earthquake of 1989. Take a look at this video.

Previously, I wrote about adverse climate changes leaving trails of destruction around the world. Like depressing news on financial markets, subprime and credit crisis, there seems to be no end in sight for storms and floods either.
The latest casualty is Philippines. Fengshen (or “God of Wind” in Chinese) is the sixth typhoon to reach Philippines this year.

Although I write an investment blog, I feel a need to discuss the incessant rape of Mother Earth today. As
investors, we are affected by global events, especially natural disasters which can cause tumultuous upheavals to the stock market.
Since 2007, we have seen a slew of record breaking climate events. There was no let-off in the year 2008 as shocking images of one natural disaster after another captured our imagination.
