Downfall from Speculative Energy Trading

Last week, energy trader SemGroup LP (the 12th-largest private U.S. company) filed for bankruptcy after sustaining $3.2 billion in losses on energy futures and derivatives trades.

In another case, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) filed civil charges against Optiver.

Alan Greenspan’s Fraud And The Global Economic Mess

Yesterday, we enjoyed a joke about Alan Greenspan but I am going to adopt a more serious tone in this post.

My esteemed impression of Alan Greenspan, who once had the world cavorting and clinging on to his every word, took a dip after reading this book, “Greenspan’s Fraud: How Two Decades of His Policies Have Undermined the Global Economy.” The truth is disturbingly harsh.

Exciting Developments For Punggol

The sleepy town of Punggol is poised for an exciting makeover. Despite efforts by planning authorities, Punggol remain an unpopular choice among HDB buyers but all that may change within the next two to three years.

A new shopping mall as large as Junction 8, in the town centre, will be constructed. The site will be used for a mixed commercial and private residential development.
