Change has indeed come to America and I am glad that Obama, a bright, eager, charismatic and progressive African-American has ascended to the White House on a record wave of voters’ turnout. After the dizzying celebrations of a defining moment where a gigantic racial barrier was overcome, it is time to get back to reality though.

Something to take our minds off the economy’s downward spiral – consumers are not forgoing their favorite movies and the entertainment industry is alive and kicking. In fact, box-office records are falling like nine-pins.

Is America a nation of whiners? Yes, so says Phil Gramm, John McCain’s top economic adviser and former senator.
Gramm claimed America has become a “nation of whiners” and everybody has been experiencing only a “mental recession.”

Although I write an investment blog, I feel a need to discuss the incessant rape of Mother Earth today. As
investors, we are affected by global events, especially natural disasters which can cause tumultuous upheavals to the stock market.
Since 2007, we have seen a slew of record breaking climate events. There was no let-off in the year 2008 as shocking images of one natural disaster after another captured our imagination.
